Q: What is Firmware?

A: Firmware is the microcode that controls how the drive behaves, becomes ready, talks to the computer and acts like a hard drive. Firmware on a hard drive is similar to the BIOS, firmware or EFI on a computer system, it is the base software that gets all operations started.
